Deputy Chief Pearlie McKinzie
 

Deputy Chief Pearlie McKinzie joined the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Police Department in 1995.  Her career began as a patrol officer in the East Precinct where she became certified as a Field Training Officer before transferring to the Central Precinct. Throughout her years at MARTA, she has held various positions while progressing through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant.  In 2004, she was promoted to the rank of Major where she served as the Precinct Commander for North, Central and East Precincts. She held the position of Major for 16 years,14 of which were in the downtown space, until her promotion to Deputy Chief of Police in 2020.

Deputy Chief McKinzie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with a Specialization in Homeland Security from Saint Leo University.  She went on to obtain her Master of Science in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University, Georgia Law Enforcement Command College in 2021.  She is a member of Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police, DeKalb Chiefs Association, Atlanta Metropol, and the Police Executive Research Forum.
